Within the last two years, I have attended the most weddings in my life. I went to four last year including my own, and three this year. I have to say, weddings may be my favorite type of party. I really enjoy prepping for events and occasions. To have so many this summers I was in heaven! Now I consider myself to be an expert, so let’s talk about Wedding Etiquette today!
Your Date
Let me put this out there first. You do not have to match each other, but you should go together. Just because you have on pink, does not mean your date must to wear pink. Here is a photo of me and my husband, wearing outfits that goes together but doesn’t necessarily match each other. Ladies, if you are the type who will never wear the same outfit more than once (thank you facebook) there is always the Rent the Runway option. I love Rent the Runway, they have so many designer outfits that work well for so many occasions! Guys don’t you worry, you can rent a suit or tux from The Black Tux and look equally as stylish as your date. I showed my husband the easy to use website and he definitely thought it is the way to go for our next special occasion. Oh and by the way, it is affordable too!
Etiquette
One thing I am a stickler on, is etiquette, and not only with weddings but throughout life. There are just somethings we should not do. We all know we shouldn’t wear white or anything that can appear to be white at a wedding. Err on the side of caution, if you have to think about it, others will too. Also, make sure you look put together, no wrinkles, or stains. Please wear appropriate attire too, my rule of thumb is “would I wear this to church?” I like to wear more classy items to a wedding otherwise you can date yourself. When attending any event, dress nice, it shows you have respect for the event and those throwing it. Lastly, be sure to dress correctly for the occasion.
Typically if there is nothing indicating the formality of the wedding on the invitation, look at the venue and the time of the wedding. Typically, if the wedding is in the morning will be more casual, the evening tends to be more formal. For example if the wedding is being held in a castle, I recommend and evening gown or a really nice cocktail dress and a tux for the guys.
I hope this helps you all get through the rest of wedding season
