Summer Travel Essentials

Summer is the time to travel, now is the time to make sure you have all your summer travel essentials ready to go.

There is nothing worse than packing for a trip and realizing that your suitcase it broken, or your book bag has a huge hole in the bottom. Here is your reminder to check your summer travel essentials and to make sure they are in working order. Also, if you don’t travel too often, here are some things for you to consider for your trip.

Suitcase

This is self explanatory, you need somewhere to keep your stuff when traveling. I tend to use the smaller size based on my travels. For those of you who travel for longer periods you may need the larger size or you may decide to get the entire set. I recently purchased the 21″ suitcase and I don’t have any complaints. It’s the perfect size for a long weekend.

Weekender bag

These bags are great if you are going somewhere.. . for the weekend. You can pack a few outfits and be good to go or if you need a little more space when you are traveling with your suitcase. Having a bag this size, comes in handy even when you’re not traveling. Moms it’s great for a diaper bag if you need a bit more than you would for a regular outing because you can throw extra things in it to keep your kid occupied.

Bookbag or oversized tote

Totes are great and they come in handy when traveling because they can be a catch all. I have a tip though, when traveling opt for a bookbag because you can throw as much extra things into it and it won’t hurt your shoulder. I switched to traveling with a bookbag a few years ago and I have not gone back. Let me say, I do use a nylon tote that I can fold into my bookbag because totes are just great when spending the day out and you need a lot of things with you, and you want to look cute. Take your pick.

Cord organizer

Nothing is worse than needing to remove everything out of your bookbag to find your charger. I hope you don’t think you are being extra by having a nice and organized place to keep all your cords. I do have a tip, you have to put them back in the case when you’re done other wise you will still spend time looking for where you put your charger last.

Packing cubes

Packing cubes are hit or miss. If you are an over packer I think you can benefit from packing cubes because you can stuff a lot and smush it down to save space. If you’re not an over packer, you may not need packing cubes. It’s best to have them just in case than to need them and not have them if you are packing last minute.

Jewelry organizer

Have you ever been traveling only to realize you lost your favorite earrings, it’s the worst. It’s very important to have a place for everything so nothing is lost. The smaller the better so you can fit it into your suitcase easily. I also added in a sunglasses organizer, since we are talking about our summer travel essentials, I had to add this to the list.

Portable charger

Do you even leave the house without a charger these days? Can you imagine being on a plane and your phone does, that would be such a boring ride. Here are a few chargers to choose from, just in case you want a backup or need a portable charger.

Other odds and ends

There are some things that are not needed for a successful and organized trip, but these items are very helpful when you are traveling. While writing this post one thing I thought was really interesting was to bring a reusable grocery bag, just in case you go to a local market or a place that doesn’t offer bags. Just a good idea.
