I’ve been drinking my green smoothie for over a year now and I love it. It’s easy to customize based on what you want for the day, but it is always healthy and so good for you!
I found this recipe from the book Body Love by Kelly LeVeque, if you haven’t read her book I highly recommend it if you are looking to change your eating habits. Her way of eating is so easy and it works to keep you full and satisfied all day. It’s so good for you I still follow her guidelines even while pregnant.
Green Smoothie Recipe:
1 – 1 1/2 cup liquid
1 tbsp chia Seeds
1 tbsp psyllium husk powder
1 serving protein powder
1 large scoop of almond butter
2 cups greens
1/4 cup frozen blueberries
Start with the liquid, then add your powders, chia seeds, almond butter, greens, and blueberries, mix in your blender until smooth, and enjoy.
Here are a few tricks I’ve learned:
Any liquid will work, I switched to water recently because the psyllium husk powder made the drink really thick and the water helps to thin it out, you can also add more water to reduce the thickness as well. In the past, I used almond milk and it was my favorite. As for greens, I like to use frozen spinach to make it more of a smoothie consistency. Without frozen greens, it reminds me more of a juice.
