On March 17, 2021 I had Maximilion Warren Carter! He was 8 lbs 5 ounces! Today I wanted to share with you my labor and delivery story! I thought it would be odd to come back and just start talking about fashion and shopping so let’s start with this quick story.
Prior to going into labor I was so uncomfortable. Max was very large in my belly and would kick constantly. When he would, you could see my entire stomach shake. I started to have a lot of trouble sleeping, basically everything was uncomfortable. I was over it.
At 3am on March 17th I woke up needing to pee, which I did almost every 2 hours at this point. When I got back into bed I just felt more uncomfortable than usual. I had a contraction counter app on my phone and I decided to use it for kicks and giggles. After about an hour the app said I should head to the hospital because my contractions were coming every 2 minutes. I didn’t believe it because I just thought it should hurt more.
Around 6am, I decided to take a shower and do my hair. At this point the pressure started to get worse and I was unable to do my hair. I called the hospital and they told me I could wait a few more hours if I wanted to but if I was really uncomfortable I could come in now.
So we packed up the car and went to the hospital. Good thing because when we got there around 8am I was 6 centimeters dilated. They checked me in and I was able to get the epidural pretty soon after that. On TV people make the epidural seem painful and scary, but in the grand scheme of things, it was the easiest part of the entire process.
After a few hours and pushing I started to get frustrated and wanted to give up. It just seemed like nothing was progressing, I was hungry and tired and just felt tapped out. Everyone in the room said just give us one more push… I pushed one more time and at 7:26pm Max was born.
Today Max is 4 months old and I am so happy to share some photos with you all! Today he is the happiest baby, he’s smart and so much fun.
