DIY Cut Off Sweatshirt Outfit

Many of you know I am a thrifter, while shipping I found this cut off sweatshirt I thought would be perfect for spring.

Let me tell you a secret, I love a good DIY but I don’t like to store all the items needed for a DIY project. I felt like I hit the jackpot when I saw this cut off sweatshirt.

Now is a great time to DIY something you will most likely be wearing around the house. I’ve made various types of cut off shirts over the years and I thought this was cute and I didn’t even do it myself.

I would love it it you would shop my links to this look.

I am a DYI’er by nature, if you wanted to make this shirt here is what you need.

Long sleeve plain sweatshirt

For a project like this, I like to find the most inexpensive sweatshirt I can find, usually amazon or the craft store would have some. An even more sustainable option would be to find one at the thrift store or if you have an old sweatshirt you are no longer excited to wear and happy to refashion it.

Sewing scissors

In all my fashion design experience, it is so important to cut fabric with a really sharp pair of scissors. That’s why I listed it here, i’m sure you have a regular pair of scissors laying around but please make sure they are sharp.

Ruler

Symmetry is important when making your cuts. You want them to either be straight across the bottom or the sleeves will need to be the same length on each arm.

That’s it! If you want to refashion a shirt, because you had no luck at the thrift store, that’s all you need. Here is the important part, if you make your own cut off sweatshirt please tag me in your photos on Instagram @jazminmac I would love to see how you style it.
