As you all know last week I was in Newport News, Va with my church on a couples retreat. The retreat was Thursday through Saturday, just in time for everyone to make it to church on Sunday. It just so happened to be comunion so we were able to sleep in (Communion service is at night). I am currently working on an in depth story on my faith and the journey it took to get to where I am now. It is very interesting/ entertaining.
Frank and I left at about 8am on Thursday morning. I suggested that we get down there as soon as possible, traffic is always unpredictable and it was a 3 hour drive. I actually grew up in that area, and I knew there were some outlets close by. We arrived at the outlets around 1pm and gave us some time to do a little shopping. After shopping we checked into the hotel and the festivities began.
Night One:
We were able to experience the amazing voice of Kelly Price concert, followed by music and dancing in what we called “the love lounge.” Growing up my favorite type of music was R&B, 90s R&B holds a special place in my heart. If you can’t tell getting to see Kelly Price perform was amazing.
Day One:
First thing in the morning, the coordinators included a time for everyone to walk around “love pond” or get in a quick workout. We started the morning in prayer, followed by breakfast. After breakfast which was about 2 hours, we had praise in worship before our first speaker. The first speaker, Bishop Kim Walter Brown was amazing. So much so, Frank and I purchased his book and got it signed. Bishop Brown, spoke about how our up bring plays a major role in the way we operate. It was very eye opening. Later that evening, we had dinner at a Brizillian restaurant that brought around endless meats, Frank loved it.
Day Two:
The morning was the same as day one, Frank and I had an amazing run this morning- I get excited for great workouts. The speaker this day was Mark Gungor, and he was so funny, we couldn’t stop laughing. I really enjoyed how he put the way men and women think into perspective. We purchased these materials as well. After this speaker it was time for lunch then we had to get back on the road to head back to Maryland.
Overall Frank and I loved this retreat. We have never done anything quite like this and we had an amazing time. We even bought our tickets for next year, the church gives a great discount when you register at the retreat. I am so excited for next year!
